NRAS Christmas Carol Concert

It’s hard to believe that it’s almost Christmas and the seasonal fun started for us last week when we held our first Christmas Carol Concert at St Giles Church in London. It was a lovely evening, in a fantastic setting and from the feedback we’ve been given was enjoyed by all those who came along.

Nicky Campbell, the Radio 5 breakfast show presenter, opened the concert for us which was great and he was followed by two carols from the choir at Sir John Cass Foundation Primary School – they were so sweet and sang beautifully and were the best behaved primary school children I have come across! We also had the madrigal group from The City of London School for Girls singing, they were excellent and sang beautifully, well worth going to listen to if you have the chance.

The Rt Hon Theresa May MP, who is our patron, read A A Milne’s King John’s Christmas which had the whole audience captivated and it was universally agreed that should she decide to have a change of career acting was the way to go! In true Theresa style, she looked resplendent in scarlet suede boots!

There were plenty of carols for the audience to join in with and wine and mince pies to follow so all in all a good start to the festivities.

It’s been a busy year for the fundraising team – we’ve introduced lots of new activities and events which have been really well supported and are now planning our calendar for next year. We’ve had great fun and raised vital funds for the charity so are all looking forward to doing even better next year and continuing to raise the profile of RA and the work we do with the general public.

A very merry Christmas to everybody and here’s to an even more successful year in 2010.

Tracey, Fundraising Manager
