A Racing Start to 2010

It’s hard to believe that we are already through the first quarter of 2010, although it is lovely to have lighter mornings and evenings and to see blue skies and sun again, albeit intermittently!

2009 was a tremendous first year at NRAS for me and thank you all for taking part in so many of our activities, holding your own fundraising events and supporting us in many other ways by becoming Friends, giving through your salary by signing up to Payroll Giving and supporting us online.

This year we have been very lucky to secure 25 charity places in the Great North Run in September, of which 12 have already been taken and 20 charity places in the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October, of which 4 have already been taken. In July we will also be holding our very first NRAS 10K Run at Hughenden Manor in West Wycombe which we are very excited about.

We have 3 ladies busy fundraising to walk part of the Great Wall of China in October, 2 members and a team from a pharmaceutical company training to complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge in September and 2 people undertaking the Hadrian’s Wall trek in June – good luck to you all!

For the danger lovers among you a new challenge event this year is abseiling – on 4th July you can abseil down King’s College Hospital in London so if this sounds like you get in touch. We would love to cheer you on!

For the more sedate do come along and join us at our Summer Concert at Shiplake College, near Henley on Thames on 26th June. We have fingers and toes crossed for a balmy summer evening so come along and picnic in the beautiful grounds of the college before being entertained by Ascot Brass Band playing a selection of music for a summer evening from Brahms to Boogie.

Details of everything happening is on the website so do take a look and get in touch if you would like to take part or come along. I hope to see you during the year.
