Free Prescriptions for people with RA

Hi Everyone,

In recent weeks, we have been very busy, along with 19 other charities, in organising a demonstration outside Westminster to ask Gordon Brown to keep a promise that he made in 2009 – free prescriptions for people with long term conditions.

He has already given free prescriptions to people with cancer, epilepsy, and a few other restricted diseases, so why should we have this inequity when it comes to other long term conditions like RA?

Thank you to the 40 active campaigners who came to Parliament on the day of our demonstration. We had a photo call for the people who took part, special t-shirts made for the day, an online petition, lots of Twitter activity and we also asked for supporters to ring the No.10 switchboard which was bombarded with calls.

All 20 Patient Support Groups are actively asking Parliamentarians to sign Early Day Motions (EDMs) to support our campaign and we know that the Government is actively considering a report that has been presented to them from Sir Ian Gilmore.

We wait with interest, as does everyone else, to see how the Government reacts.

We would love to have your support on government issues and would encourage you to contact your local MP to back our campaign and keep NRAS at the forefront of RA awareness.
