Don't Shop, Come and Swap!

Spring is here, the weather is getting warmer and I have been out and about putting as many posters and flyers as I can for our forthcoming event - Ladies Clothes Exchange which will be at the Cox Green Community Centre, Highfield Road on Friday 7th May, please see our website for more information.

We have had a massive response from lots of very generous people donating items of clothes for this event, we now have a large amount of good quality clothes in a range of sizes, with labels that include Coast, Laura Ashley, Ralph Lauren, to name but a few - so don’t miss this chance to come and swap rather than shop on the 7th May and raise funds for NRAS. I am also extremely grateful to all of those businesses that have donated items for the event - the evening should prove to be very exciting.

Since my last blog on Community Matters, we have had an amazing amount of people fundraising for us; as the weather warms up people are putting on their running shoes and taking part in marathons and half marathons, we have even had a one mile children’s fun run fundraiser!

Lots of individuals have done amazing things to fundraise for NRAS recently from rattling collecting tins to table top sales. One gentleman recently decided to fundraise by having his hair cut – nothing out of the ordinary about that you might say, but he had not cut his hair for 16 years! He raised a staggering £1,200 for NRAS.

We have had an influx of couples celebrating their Ruby Wedding anniversaries that decided to request donations to NRAS rather than having presents – bless them all, because without them NRAS would not be able to continue its work.

Coming up in May we have the Maidenhead Concert Band who are performing at the Norden Farm Arts Centre, Altwood Road, Maidenhead, the evening concert will consist of a wide variety of music from big band classics through to popular songs from film, pop and theatre; all proceeds will be donated to NRAS - I hope to see you there!

Best wishes,

Sandra
