In the Community

Hi All,

My name is Sandra and I am the Community Fundraiser here at NRAS. I joined the fundraising team back in October 2009, and have been busy trying to involve the local community in fundraising activities and increasing the awareness of rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

In the short time I have been working with NRAS I have met many wonderful caring individuals who are willing to give up their very precious spare time to fundraise for us, these kind individuals have done things that range from a sherry and mince pie morning just before Christmas that raised over £400 to a golf day on a very wet and windy November’s day that raised over £2,000!

We have lots of fun events planned in the coming months - the first of these is a “Clothes Express”. In these hard pressed recessionary times what cheers us girls up more than a few new clothes? Well we cannot offer you “brand new clothes” but we can offer you “new to you clothes” at our Clothes Express, a fun evening with a glass of wine and a lot of girly talk on offer and the chance of swapping some items from your wardrobe with someone else’s. It’s going to be a great evening, watch out for date and venue on the website.

Look out for us at the local fairs in and around Maidenhead in the coming months – we are planning to run a plant stall, soft toys and a second hand book stall at these fairs, so let everybody know and get them to get their pennies out of their pocket and come along and buy.

A fundraising football match is in negotiation at the moment. Two well known premier clubs are interested, watch this space football fans, we will want you to come along and cheer and clap and raise lots of funds for us!

There is also a Gala Evening in aid of NRAS, full of fun and frolic, on the calendar for June. It’s in Yorkshire, and is being organised by one of our supporters. Details are on the forthcoming events page of the website. Have a look and if you want to come along let us know!

Finally if you see us collecting in the foyer of a supermarket don’t be shy, come over and say hello. We would love to meet as many of you as possible.

Best wishes,

Sandra
