Events for 2010

I can’t quite believe how quickly this year is moving along. We are already over half way through May and at last it looks as though the weather is warming up!

The support we have received from people this year has been brilliant. One lady climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in February, she says she wasn’t thinking of climbing a mountain anytime soon until one of her colleagues at work mentioned that she was getting a group together – the rest is history! She raised over £800 for NRAS. Three ladies are planning to trek the Great Wall of China in October, it has been a dream of Debbie’s for years and although she lives with rheumatoid arthritis herself her doctor has said he fully supports her in this challenge – what a courageous lady Debbie is. So far they have raised over £2,950 for NRAS and they don’t go until October!

We were very fortunate to have 10 people take part in the London Marathon for us (all having gained their own entry into the race) and raised almost £6,000 for NRAS – a huge thank you to them all.

On the 26th June we will be holding our Summer Concert at Shiplake College, Shiplake, Henley on Thames. It promises to be a wonderful evening of light, classical, showtime and popular music, with Ascot Brass and soloist Shola Hector. Gates open at 6pm to picnic in the beautiful grounds of the college, the concert starts at 7.30 pm – please do come along and support NRAS. For more information and to buy your tickets please click here.

Entries for our 10k run are going well. It takes place on the 11th July and is set in the beautiful grounds of Hughenden Manor in High Wycombe. This is a great opportunity to take part in a new race and raise funds for NRAS. We hope you will join us in making this first year a real success and hopefully turning it into an annual event. Please click here to find out more and register for the run!

We have added a couple of new challenges to our UK programme, whitewater rafting, a great way of getting an adrenalin rush whilst at the same time team building. Spire 2 Spire is a 1 day trekathon challenge which you can run, jog or walk. Our overseas challenges range from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to trekking the Andean trails to Machu Picchu. Be brave and have a go at a challenge – you won’t regret it!

Entries for the Great North Run are going fast - we only have a few left – if you are interested in taking part call now to secure one of the few remaining places! Likewise the Royal Parks Half Marathon is proving to be an equally popular half marathon for the South of England and places are being snatched up very quickly. Don’t delay – call now to be part of ‘Team NRAS’.

Keep up the good work of supporting NRAS in the wonderful ways that you do – we wouldn’t be able to continue to offer the support that we do without you.

Thank you.
